Over the weekend, Ghanaians were outraged by the obvious abuse of Ghana’s lone CAF-approved stadium, the Baba Yara Sports Stadium pitch, for a church crusade.
Social media went ablaze as images of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium being used for a 5-day church event by the Deeper Life Church Ghana popped up.
The National Sports Authority, following the backlash, confidently stated in a social media post that it has a “robust plan” to return the pitch to its normalcy.
Patience Mensah, the Public Relations Officer of the National Sports Authority, in conversation with Max FM, insisted “the church will pay for the damages made to the Baba Yara Stadium” as part of the agreement with the church.
She therefore called on Ghanaian sports fans not to “panic,” as the venue is scheduled to host the AFCON 2025 qualifier match against Angola in 34 days.
