Coach Yussif Bassigi has assured Ghana’s preparedness to face Nigeria in the final of the women’s football event of the 13th African Games.
The Black Princesses of Ghana will fight the Super Falconets of Nigeria for gold on Thursday night at the Cape Coast Stadium at 8 p.m.
“We are poised to play the final against Nigeria because each time both countries meet, it does not matter how good your team is because of the rivalry. We are prepared for them as they are for us as well,” said Basigi in the pre-match presser.
“We vary our games, and with the strength of the Nigerians, I think Uganda and Senegal are equally strong, but we overcame them,” he added.
The Black Princesses began the tournament with a lone goal victory over Ethiopia, followed by a hard-fought 2-1 win over Tanzania before a 1-1 draw with Uganda in the final group game.
Coach Bassigi’s girls produced a spirited performance in the semi-final, beating Senegal 3-1 to earn a qualification to the finals.
