Ghana’s Black Stars remain without a win after their second match in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Today, Ghana’s senior men’s national team faced off against Niger at the Municipal Sports Complex, seeking to revitalize their qualification hopes.
Coming into the match, the Black Stars were eager to recover from their previous setback—a disappointing loss to Angola in their opening group game.
Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, opted for an attacking lineup, aiming to secure a crucial victory. Despite the offensive prowess of the squad, the team struggled to break through Niger’s defense.
Ghana did take the lead thanks to a goal from Alidu Seidu in the 44th minute, with an assist from Mohammed Kudus.
However, Niger proved resilient, and their efforts were rewarded when Oumar Sako scored in the 81st minute. This late goal ensured the match ended in a 1-1 draw, frustrating Ghana’s ambitions for a win.
As a result, the Black Stars are still searching for their first victory in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers. The team finishes the September international break with only one point from their first two matches, leaving them with much to address as they continue their campaign.
