Joint 77 of the Militant fame has disclosed that dancehall musician Shatta Wale sidelined the Shatta Movement (SM) Militant during the hey days of the group.
According to him, the SM boss selfishly performs the group’s songs in gigs meant for the Militant Group, which was made up of himself, Natty Lee, Addi Self and Captan.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Max Morning Show in Accra on Monday, Joint 77, known in real life as Melvin Owusu, stated that Shatta Wale solely benefitted from the group’s hard work and failed to involve the group in shows that required the presence of the entire Militant Group.
” It was a problem for Shatta Wale to even travel to perform with the Militant Group. He never did that. He goes alone to perform ‘Taking Over’ on stage to perform all of our verses. When he is going sometimes, he will not even tell you. I was with him; we were eating at the same table when he left that evening to shoot video with Beyoncé without telling anyone. Perhaps, he believed, we were wizards to destroy his job, so he went there alone,” he lamented.
Joint 77 indicated that Shatta Wale revealed his location to the group after facing consequences for his actions.
”He called me to tell me a whole lot… Beyonce paid for the whole crew, and we were supposed to be there with him. They didn’t let him know bla bla bla. But, we know how you do your thing; you’re principled. If they brought a deal for us to leave with you, you would have gone with us. Even I was eating with you that day, before you left that evening without informing anyone,” he added.
Joint 77 made it clear that no one knew Shatta Wale better than those living with him, stressing that every good thing said about him was merely for “clout chasing”.
