Celebrated rapper Black Sherif had a fulfilling night at the just-ended 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) after grabbing five prestigious awards.
The show, which came off on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Accra International Conference Center’s (AICC) Grand Arena, saw the young talented rapper taking home the Songwriter of the Year award, beating Kofi Kinaata, who had won it five times.
He also received the Album of the Year award with his “Iron Boy” album and won the mouth-watering prize of Gh¢100,000, a sponsorship package from Guinness Ghana, which he dedicated the money to fellow musicians Arathejay and Gonaboy.
Black Sherif also silenced Gyakie, Lasmid, Olivetheboy, King Promise, and Stonebwoy to grab the Best Afropop award with his song “Sacrifice”, which also earned him the Best Songwriter award.
He climbed further to gain the best hip-hop song with his track “Where Dem Boys” and was finally crowned the overall artiste of the year for the second time after three years of winning the coveted award.
Black Sherif subdued his close contenders Stonebwoy, Diana Hamilton, Medikal, Wendy Shay, and Sarkodie to win home the prestigious awards for the night.
