A 54-year-old man has been arrested by the Weija Divisional Police Command for the murder of his 13-year-old daughter at Kokrobite.

The man, identified as Isaac Adonteng, surrendered himself to the police after his wife was arrested for the death of the girl.

The deceased, Celestine Adonteng, was reportedly beaten and locked in a room by her parents for eating leftover food.

Residents in their community disclosed to reporters that Mr Adonteng has been physically harming his late daughter and locks his gate to prevent her from running for help.

The police discovered a cutlass and a metal pipe were allegedly used in the assault of the deceased.

Parents and guardians have been urged to refrain from using excessive force in correcting their children.
