Portugal joins 30 other countries to qualify for next year’s FIFA World Cup to be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
The Portuguese sealed their qualification through a 9-1 hammering of Armenia in the absence of illustrious leader Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo, who is Portugal’s all-time leading goalscorer, expressed excitement after qualification was confirmed.
“WE’RE IN THE WORLD CUP! LET’S GO, PORTUGAL!” he posted on X.
Renato Veiga, Gonçalo Ramos, Bruno Fernandes (3), João Neves (3) and Francisco Conceição all scored for an emphatic win for Portugal.
