Hearts of Oak head coach, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, has admitted he felt somewhat lucky his team drew with Hohoe United.
Newly promoted to the top division of Ghanaian football, Hohoe United played their maiden game away against record winners Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Volta Region-based club managed to leave Accra with a point as Hearts failed to break them down.
Coached by a former Hearts of Oak coach, Tijani, Hohoe United presented a low block setup with the intention of hitting a counter-attack, as Kweku Musah, Solomon Adomako, and Alkassim Mohammed made their debut.
Meanwhile, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, head coach of Hearts, presented a more attacking front with Mohammed Hussein, Frank Duku, and Martin Karikari leading.
Speaking in the post-match, Didi Dramani, despite his team’s dominant possession of the ball in major parts of the game, suggested they were lucky to walk away with a draw, considering the away team’s failure to capitalise on their fast fastbreaks.
“Sometimes you can say that you are even lucky that you drew because low-block teams can always come on transitions, and then when you are caught on a break and you don’t have those legs to get back, you are in trouble. So it happens, and we expect many teams to play like that,” said Didi Dramani.
