Daniel Okang, the public relations officer for the musical group Klala, has asserted that fans are the major reason for the collapse of many music groups in Ghana.
According to him, fans could incite a particular musician from a group to make that person feel like he or she is the strength of the group, leading the person to separate from the group.
Speaking in a phone interview with Max Morning Dew in Accra on Friday, Okang indicated that the incitement of fans makes many artists from groups develop egos, and the artist could make a decision to go solo.
“Lots of people think the music group collapses due to a fight over a woman and money, but that idea is not necessarily the cause of the collapse of many groups. If it’s a woman, the other person could also get some of the women.
What causes the collapse is fans. Fans can incite and propel one of the group members to believe he is the talented one and the strength of the group,” he explained.
Touching on other factors that could lead to a break in bonds of music groups, he cited endorsement deals and location.
“With the endorsement deals, one of the artists can go behind the others to accept a deal that the group didn’t agree with, and this leads to the breakupof groups,” he added.
