Ghana Youth Support Mahama- Shatta Wale

Date:

Award-winning dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has called on Ghanaian youth to rally behind the administration of President John Dramani Mahama, praising its commitment to youth empowerment and policies aimed at improving livelihoods.

Performing at the 2025 GHALCA President’s Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, July 6, Shatta Wale paused his set to deliver a strong message of support for the government.

“From now till the next election, support this government,” he said. “If you’re a youth and you want to see money in your pocket, support this government—it has come to put money in your pocket.”

The musician followed up his live appeal with a heartfelt message on his Facebook page, applauding President Mahama for his leadership:

“The man who rewards your hard work with a smile and can also terminate your contract if you don’t deliver. Good evening, Mr. President. We’re grateful for your commitment to empowering the youth and making us part of your vision.”

Shatta Wale also thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for involving his fanbase in the celebration, writing:

“Thanks to the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, for this great honour and to the Ministry for making the Shatta Movement Empire/Gaza part of this historic celebration.”

His electrifying performance brought extra energy to an already thrilling day, as Kumasi Asante Kotoko came from behind to beat Accra Hearts of Oak 2–1 in Ghana’s fiercest football rivalry. President Mahama was in attendance to witness the action-packed game.

Hearts took the lead in the first half, but Kotoko responded with two quick goals in the second, sealing a dramatic victory and capping off an unforgettable event.
