JUST IN: Swedru All Blacks Call for Probe After Elmina Stadium Chaos

Date:

Swedru All Blacks United Football Club has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to launch an official investigation into a series of troubling incidents that unfolded during their Division One League match against Elmina Sharks at the Dr. Papa Kwasi Ndoum Sports Complex on Sunday, February 16, 2025.

In an official statement, Swedru All Blacks expressed shock and disappointment over the hostile treatment they received before, during, and after the game. According to the club, their media team was denied coverage rights despite presenting the necessary documentation from the GFA’s Competitions Department.

Attempts to gain intervention from match officials were unsuccessful, and their crew faced threats from home fans, forcing them to stop coverage.

The situation escalated when a penalty was awarded to Swedru All Blacks in the 12th minute. Reports indicate that Dr. Papa Kwasi Ndoum, owner of Elmina Sharks, angrily invaded the pitch, instructing his team to abandon the match, causing a 27-minute delay. It is alleged that Dr. Ndoum also asked the referee to rescind the penalty decision, but the referee refused.

After the match, tensions boiled over as home supporters reportedly threatened and attempted to attack match officials. The officials had to be escorted to safety through a tunnel while facing intimidation. Swedru All Blacks commended the timely intervention of security personnel, who helped ensure the safe exit of their players and staff.

In their statement, Swedru All Blacks urged the GFA to take decisive action by investigating the events and ensuring a safer environment for future matches. They also called for the release of match footage to allow the public to assess the incident independently.

The club reaffirmed its commitment to fair play and called on stakeholders in Ghana football to uphold the integrity of the game.
