Chaos erupted at the Okaikoi North Collation Centre in Greater Accra on Monday evening, leaving two Electoral Commission (EC) officials hospitalized after being affected by pepper spray during a confrontation.
The incident occurred after tensions flared between NDC and NPP supporters, who gathered at the center amid allegations of vote-rigging involving some parliamentary candidates, according to max.com.gh correspondent James Eshun.
As the crowd grew hostile, police deployed pepper spray to restore order, but some of the substance inadvertently affected the EC officials. Initially stable, the officials later collapsed as the effects of the spray intensified.
They were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
