Ghanaian international Seidu Alidu could miss the rest of the 2024-25 season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.
The Black Stars defender was in action for Stade Rennes as they travelled away to face Lille, a match his team lost by a lone goal to nil.
Former Chile and Argentina head coach Jorge Sampaoli started the Ghanaian from the onset, but just 18 minutes into the game, Seidu injured his left knee while challenging Edon Zhegrova of Lille for the ball.
Seidu will have to undergo surgery on his knee after a series of tests within forty-eight hours, as his club doctors fear the worse.
Edon Zhegrova eventually scored the only goal of the game on the cusp of halftime to condemn Stade Rennes to their seventh defeat of the Ligue 1 campaign.
“What about Alidu Seidu? I can’t diagnose him; we’ll be doing some tests tomorrow,” Sampaoli reacted after the game.
