The President of the Ghana Athletics, Bawa Fuseini, has refuted claims Team Ghana failed at the recently ended 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Many Ghanaian athletic enthusiasts were left disappointed at the performance of Ghana’s representatives after their early exits from the games.
Bawa Fuseini confessed he stopped watching the events following Ghana’s 4x100m relay shambolic display in the second qualifying heat.
The Ghanaian athletes fumbled during the baton handover in the final leg of the race and were eventually disqualified despite finishing sixth.
However, he commended the athletes for raising the flag of Ghana high by even qualifying for the games. He noted that out of 212 countries, Ghana was part of the 16 countries to have made it to the track and field events.
“Qualifying for the Olympic Games is an achievement. Even qualifying for the World Cup is a massive achievement. The athletes brought joy and honor by qualifying. Out of 212 countries, we were among the top 16 to qualify. This is not a small achievement,” he said in an interview on Max FM
