Renowned reggae musician Rocky Dawuni has called on musicians to unite and assist each other to develop in the industry.
He also condemned the rising trend of musicians engaging in lyrical beef, backbiting, and insulting each other.
In an interview with the media, the legendary reggae icon noted that the act was causing unnecessary division among musicians and followers, thus dwindling their chance to grow in the industry.
He expressed the need for musicians to thrive in a peaceful and solid musical environment while collaborating with each other.
“I don’t believe that artists should focus on attacking each other. Artists should rather learn to work with each other. That’s how you build a solid, peace-driven environment. Any kind of toxic environment feeds negativity.”
“We are projecting our art to young people. We are projecting our art to the leaders of tomorrow. So, if we make that art a means of division, then we lose the higher point of what it is,” Rocky Dawuni stated.
He emphasized the need for harmony among artists, noting that every musician had his or her own style of dealing based on the brand each represents.
“People might have their own methodology and their own aspects, but for me, I always promote harmony and unity,” Rocky Dawuni emphasized.
His advocacy for collaboration served as a timely reminder to musicians to use music to foster social cohesion and collective growth.
