The self-acclaimed Dancehall King of Ghana, Shatta Wale, has vehemently refused to offer an apology to Stonebwoy for mocking his disability.
This comes after the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD) demanded an unqualified apology from the artist, asking him to retract his statement of mockery against colleague Stonebwoy during the Salah festivities.
However, responding to the society in a viral video, Shatta Wale questioned the society’s motive for the demand and spoke against their request.
“You can’t create a problem for me; I am a problem myself. For everything we are creating an association and paying dues, there is even an unemployed people association,” he stated.
The Society had warned Shatta Wale in a statement released on Monday, April 15, to retract and apologize to all persons with disabilities and initiate steps to take down the video from social media.
It also reminded him that making derogatory remarks about a person’s disability is a punishable offense by law with reference to the Disability Act 715.
The society subsequently issued a seven-day ultimatum to the artist, or risk facing legal action.
after describing his act as “irresponsible” and charging Ghanaians to condemn the musician’s misbehavior.
