CAF CONFEDERATION CUP: Dreams FC drawn against Stade Malien in quarter-finals

Date:

Dreams FC to have progressed to the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, especially after topping their group.

Drawing against a team with the stature of Stade Malien de Bamako presents a tough challenge, given the Malian club’s history and experience in the competition.

Playing away first can be both an advantage and a challenge for Dreams FC. While it allows them to start the tie without the pressure of playing in front of their home crowd, it also means they’ll need to secure a favorable result to take back to Kumasi for the second leg.

The dates for the matches are set, with the first leg in Bamako on March 31, 2024, and the return leg in Kumasi on April 7, 2024.

Dreams FC will likely aim to put in a solid performance in the away leg to give themselves the best chance of advancing to the semi-finals when they play at home.

It’s also worth noting the significance of Dreams FC being the first Ghanaian club to reach the knockout stage of CAF inter-club competitions in two decades. This achievement underscores their quality and the progress they’ve made in recent years.

Facing a team like Stade Malien, who have previously won the competition in 2009, will undoubtedly test Dreams FC’s mettle.

However, with their recent form and the momentum from topping their group, they’ll be hoping to continue their impressive run and make history for Ghanaian football.
