BLACK STARS: We were impatient with Kwesi Appiah – Oti Akenteng

Date:

Oti Akenteng, the former Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association, feels that if Ghanaians had been more patient with James Kwesi Appiah, the current coach of Sudan, he may be considered on par with elite managers such as Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho.

After working as Milovan Rajevac’s and Cladue Le Roy’s assistant coach from 2007 to 2012, the 63-year-old took over as head coach of the Black Stars of Ghana in 2012.

In a discussion with max.com.gh, the seasoned administrator acknowledged that the former Ghanaian coach might be on par with elite foreign managers, even as he praised the caliber of local coaches Ghana had.

“Our local coaches are very good. If we had had patience with Kwesi Appiah, he would be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Mourinho,” he said.
