In a recent interview with Max FM, Paa Kwesi Asare, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Hohoe United, provided further details about the team’s acquisition of Liberty Professionals Football Club. Asare confirmed that Hohoe United’s ownership had indeed acquired Liberty Professionals and decided to change the club’s name to Hohoe United Football Club for their participation in the league.

According to Asare, the motivation behind the acquisition was to revive football in the Volta Region, as Hohoe United had been inactive for two decades. To accomplish this, they considered a merger with Liberty Professionals and initiated contact with the club. As part of the acquisition process, a change of name was agreed upon, and the Ghana Football Association was notified in compliance with the league’s rules.
Asare also mentioned that financial obligations were met during the acquisition, although specific details about these obligations were not provided in the statement. It can be inferred that the necessary financial arrangements were made to facilitate the transfer of ownership.
However, despite taking over Liberty Professionals’ place in the Ghana Division One – Zone 3 league, Hohoe United will not be using the traditional home grounds of Liberty Professionals, the Dansoman Karl Reindolf Park, for their home games.
