MAX GPL: Medeama SC humiliate Hearts of Oak 5-1

Date:

Medeama Sporting Club annihilate the ‘continental masters’ Accra Hearts of Oak 5-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium to go top of the BetPawa Premier League.

Derrick Fordjour hit the ground running for Medeama after curling a shot past Richmond Ayi who returned to the starting line up of the Phobians.

Salifu Ibrahim equalized from the penalty spot after defender, Caleb Amankwah, was fouled the penalty box by Baba Musah before the highest-scoring defender in the league, a former player of Hearts of Oak, Vincent Atinga, got his 11th of the season from the penalty spot to give Medeama back the lead.

The league leaders extended their lead just before the end of the first half after Jonathan Sowah finished off a swift counter-attack which began from the deep end of their half.

Jonathan Sowah bagged his brace in the 84th minute of the game to make it four for the Westerners. Just when the disappointed Hearts of Oak fans thought it couldn’t get any worse for their side, captain Kwasi Donsu stepped up to make it 5 goals to 1, a score that would humiliate the Phobians.

After leading the league table for a long time, Aduana FC are now second after their 3-0 loss to Accra Lions on Saturday, May 20. The title is now Medeama SC’s to lose.
