Kwesi Appiah of Crawley Town FC has termed Ghana’s 2021 Nations Cup loss as “devastating.”
The four-time African Champions were eliminated from Africa’s largest football championship after losing 3:2 to Comoros in the last group stage encounter on Tuesday night.
The Black Stars were only able to get a point at the tournament after a 1:1 draw with Gabon in their second group C encounter, after losing their first and final matches to Morocco and Comoros, respectively.
And Appiah, who represented Ghana in the 2015 World Cup under Avram Grant, voiced his dissatisfaction following the team’s dismal performance.
“The early exit from the AFCON is devastating for us all. We had high hopes for the tournament and to not even make it out the group is disappointing,” Kwesi Appiah said in an exclusive interview after the game.
“It’s hard to say what went wrong but from watching the three games, our attacking intent wasn’t aggressive enough we didn’t seem to have that cutting edge to put teams under consistent pressure,” Appiah further said.
