Former Black Stars captain Sam Johnson has laid out the reason why Black Stars striker Iniaki Williams is finding it difficult to score for his country.
Iniaki, 29, switched allegiance to commit his future to Ghana in 2022 after he failed to earn a cap for the country of his birth, Spain.
The retired Black Stars captain, in an interview on Max FM, said, “Inaki doesn’t score goals. He is a sprinter. He is not skillful. He is a straightforward striker.
If the midfielders are not feeding him the passes he needs to score, he won’t be able to score. But if he is not able to score when he receives good passes, then we can blame him.”
Williams has scored five goals in 13 La Liga appearances in the 2023–24 season already. He’ll be expected to start for the Black Stars on Friday, November 17, 2023, against Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
