Former Black Stars captain Anthony Baffoe has turned down the role for the search for the next coach of the team.
On Friday, October 2, 2026, following a “crunch” meeting between the Sports Ministry and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to seek remedies for the malaise of the Black Stars, some measures were announced by the Minister, Hon. Kofi Adams.
Among the measures to turn around the fortunes of the Black Stars, a five-member committee was instituted for the search for the next coach of Ghana.
The committee included Frederick Pappoe as chairman with Anthony Baffoe, Stephen Appiah, Abdul Faisal Chibsah, and Agbesi Dzakpasu, Esq., as members.
Anthony Baffoe, three days after the announcement, has reportedly opted out of the committee. The reason for his decision is yet to be known.
This may come unsurpising for some astute sports pundits, who have alleged the committee set up by the Sports Ministry in conjunction with the GFA is simply a way to appease the anger of Ghanaians.
