Renowned rapper Medikal is being criticized for touching an unpleasant part of a fan during a recent concert.
The rapper touched the buttocks of a female fan during and the act has since sparked conversations online.
In a viral clip, Medikal is seen welcoming the fan onto the stage with a hug before placing his hand on her behind.
This attracted a cheer from patrons, but mixed reactions greeted the video online .
While some said the fan didn’t seem to mind, others believed Medikal went too far and acted inappropriately.
In response to the backlash, the “Omo Ada” hitmaker firmly denied any intentional misconduct.
“I was performing at Evandy and invited one of my fans on stage. I wanted us to dance, but she told me she had a boyfriend, so I respected that and let her go. While hugging her, I accidentally touched her buttocks. It wasn’t intentional, people are reading too much into it,” he explained.
Medikal indicated that the online narrative was misleading and part of an agenda to damage his reputation.
“To those guys who sit around spreading fake news about me, stop it. I won’t intentionally invite someone on stage and disrespect her like that. And to those calling it sexual harassment, stop that nonsense. I respect women, especially my fans. I don’t joke with my fans, so stop spreading the wrong narrative,” he said.
Despite his explanation, the video continues to stir conversations about boundaries between artists and fans during live shows.
