Hearts of Oak stays top as WAFA hold Kotoko in Obuasi

Date:

Kumasi Asante Kotoko failed to reclaim top spot on the Ghana Premier League log after they were held to a 1-1 draw at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium on Saturday.

The Porcupine Warriors could not hold on to their early lead as WAFA came from behind to snatch a draw.

The result leaves Kotoko in second place on goal difference behind rivals Accra Hearts of Oak  who beat Techiman Eleven Wonders on Friday..

The hosts went ahead just two minutes into proceedings after Abdul Ganiyu converted a penalty kick.

WAFA conceded the penalty after goalkeeper Kwadwo Osei Bonsu brought down striker Francis Andy Kumi after he failed to deal with a one-on-one situation.

The visitors however equalized just before half-time after Justus Torsutsey headed in a cross from Lawrence Agyekum

Kotoko’s next game is a difficult away trip to 2017 Champions Aduana Stars.
