Media General’s Godwin Asideba has been named the winner of the BBC Komla Dumor Award.
The award, given to the best African journalist, is to honour the Ghanaian journalist and presenter of the BBC World News, who died at age 41 in 2014.
Asideba, an investigative journalist, filmmaker, and news anchor, impressed the award judges with his investigative work and his unwavering belief in journalistic integrity.
“Komla’s legacy reminds us that African stories deserve to be told with depth, dignity and a fearless commitment to the truth,” Asediba said, reacting to his win.
He will travel to London, where he will spend three months working with BBC News teams across television, radio and online.
