Ghana’s Amputee national team begins TRI-NATION competition preparations.

The Ghanaian team The Black Challenge has started preparing for the forthcoming TRI-NATION competition where they will play Poland and England.

Coach Stephen Richard Obeng anticipates having a full house by Saturday, July 16, 2022 after 25 five players reported for non-residential camping to start training on Thursday, July 14.

Coach Stephen Obeng said, “Because we are preparing towards the World Cup that is in this year October. The first tournament will be between Ghana, Holland and UK coming up this month from 29th-31st.That is why we are here to prepare the team for the agenda of bringing back the trophies.”

“For the president of the Africans of the Africa Paralympics Committee. He brought this first Tri-nation tournament. There are other things yet to be published when we return from the first tournament,” he added.

Speaking to Sports journalist Evans Amewugah of Imax Media Group, Coach Stephen Obeng said “The three nation tournament comprises of Ghana, England and Poland. These three nations are fighting for cup. They all want to test their strength. Ghana is currently the ruling champions of Africa. So every team wants to challenge us. It is happening in the UK. Poland and Ghana will be in UK. We are training for 5 days to get 15 solid team members capable for team camping intensively.”

With the World Cup as their ultimate goal, coach Stephen Richard Obeng chose a 31-member playing group to report to the Wembley Park – Kotobabi for non-residential training.

“This is a non-residential camping. After picking the 15 players there will be an intensive camping for the tournament. We are looking up to travelling on 26th or 27th of July. The tournament will be happening from 28th to 31st of July,” he revealed.

He stated that “We prefer to have an Astro Turf pitch. The location doesn’t matter. Our hopes are very high. We will go to win with a defined purpose. We are not there to just participate. We are there to win and lift up the trophy.”

The complete team of the current African Champions was among Stephen Richard Obeng’s call-ups.

In advance of the Turkey 2022 AMPUTEE WORLD CUP, the English Amputee Football Association has created a new competition called The TRI-NATION. It runs from July 29 to July 31.
