Jamaican legendary dancehall artiste Vybez Kartel’s impending use of the Accra Sports Stadium for a concert in December appears to be met with growing opposition.
There have been many criticisms of past leaders of the National Sports Authority for giving out national sports facilities for various recreational events.
Some of these events led to the deterioration of the facilities, bringing the leadership of the NSA under intense scrutiny and public ridicule.
Popular sports journalist Ernest Nana Adu expressed his strong objection to the news of the Jamaican music star’s use of the only CAF-approved venue for continental and intercontinental games for his concert.
He queried if the stadium possesses the necessary equipment needed to protect not only the pitch but other relevant parts of the stadium if the concert comes off.
The NSA boss, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, confirmed on Max FM’s Sports Pack show that globally acclaimed artistes are interested in using the Accra Sports Stadium for future concerts.
