Taking Over FC owner Dr Godfred Akoto Boafo has raised concerns about the haste in looking for a new head coach for the Black Stars of Ghana.
The Black Stars of Ghana are without a substantive head coach ahead of the next round of matches in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers in November 2026.
Following Carlos Queiroz’s departure as head coach of the team, a five-member head coach selection committee was set up by the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, to search for the Portuguese coach’s successor.
Names including former AFCON-winning coach with the Ivory Coast Emerse Fae and former Trinidad and Tobago coach, Dwight Yorke, have been mentioned to be in the running.
Reacting to the developments of the current state of the Black Stars on the Max FM’s Sports Pack show, Dr Akoto Boafo questioned why the head coach of Ghana’s Black Queens, Kim Lars Bjoekegren, has not been approached for an interim role until a substantive one is hired after proper scrutiny.
“Can’t we ask Kim Lars to lead the team through the Somalia games? So we can have enough time to solve our problems.
Why are we so much in a hurry to appoint a new coach? Looking at the current state of football in Ghana. Politicians are always looking for the popular things to do.”
