Anyidoho seeks solace in Joseph’s ‘slave to prime minister’ story after NDC sacking

Date:

A former Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, is seeking solace in the word of God after he was sacked from the party.

The one-time Director of Communications at the presidency during the tenure of the late President, John Evans Atta Mills, who had been on suspension for a few months for ‘anti-party behaviour’ was officially expelled on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.

Reacting to the development on his Twitter account, the vociferous politician shared the famous Bible story of Joseph being sold into slavery by his brothers but later became Prime Minister in a foreign land, with his brothers later seeking help from him.

Mr. Anyidoho intimated that while the action is to punish him, it will turn out in his favour ultimately.

“When Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery; they did not know they were selling him into his God-given destiny to become a Prime Minister in Egypt. What evil men mean for wickedness; God turns it around for good. I am a Son of God,” he tweeted.

Mr. Anyidoho appears unperturbed about the action against him since for a very long time he has not taken interest in being recognized as a member of the party, but rather as the CEO of the Atta-Mills Institute, a policy organization he said he founded in memory of his former boss and president, the late Prof. John Evans Atta-Mils.

Many of the reactions to Mr. Anyidoho’s tweet appear to suggest that many people are happy about the party’s decision.

Prior to his dismisal, some NDC members had been complaining about his conduct and called for him to be expelled.

For instance, the Bono Regional Deputy Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Eric Adjei, wrote to the party’s National Executive Committee asking for his expulsion.

He cited some tweets and news reports which showcased the former party executive’s critical stance towards the NDC.

The NDC said Mr. Anyidoho cannot be “recognized as a member of the party and cannot carry [himself] as such.”

He has further been directed to return any party property that may be in his custody.

“You shall also forfeit any money, dues, or subscription fees that you may have made to the party,” the NDC indicated to Mr. Anyidoho.

Recently, the NDC has also expelled its former Central Regional Chairman, Bernard Allotey Jacobs and suspended a member of its communication team, Stephen Atubiga for various reasons.
