Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has revealed his suspension that President John Dramani Mahama is only an administrative measure.

The BBC-trained media practitioner was appointed the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) in March 2025.

On Thursday, October 1, 2026, news broke out of his sacking, which he and the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, denied and insisted was a suspension.

The suspension followed allegations in the last three weeks about visa fraud to about a tune of nearly USD700,000.

The suspension took effect pending the completion of an investigation into the allegations by the Police CID.

It is, however, worth noting that the suspension itself doesn’t constitute a finding of wrongdoing.

In the meantime, he will be replaced by Prof Emmanuel Osei Sarpong as the acting Director General of the NSA.
