Two suspects have been arrested by the Ashanti South Regional Police Intelligence Directorate in relation to a robbery attack on an Indian national and a planned robbery aimed at a distribution company in the same area.

Suspect Iddrisu Fuseini, also known as “Iddi”, was arrested at his hideout in Bedieso, Obuasi, after the police received credible intelligence that a group of armed men were planning an attack in Obuasi on 16th April, 2026.

He admitted involvement in an attack on an Indian national at his residence on 12th April, 2026, and revealed that the attack was planned after they received a tip from suspect Ibrahim, an employee of the victim, who told the gang the victim kept large sums of money during an investigation.

Ongoing investigations led to the arrest of a second suspect, Shaibu Mohammed, alias “SM” or “Cicinati”, at his hideout in Gausu.

Obuasi on 20th April, 2026, who also confessed the gang had further planned to attack a distribution company near Mawuli Hotel, Obuasi, during investigations.

Both suspects are currently standing trial at the Obuasi Circuit Court, and a manhunt has been launched to track down the remaining suspects identified as Khalifa, Edward, Prof. Waddle Ebbe, and Ibrahim.
