Kumasi Asante Kotoko has leapfrogged Accra Hearts of Oak to third on the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League standings.
The Porcupine Warriors recorded an impressive 3-0 home victory over their regional rivals Nations FC.
Albert Amoah headed home Kotoko’s lead from a Kotei well-delivered cross in the 23rd minute of the game.
The derby certainly was not short of drama as head coach of Kotoko Prince Owusu was involved in a heated exchange with the centre referee George Mawuli at the end of half-time.
Kotoko looked more assured and in control of play in the second half as captain Samba O’neil and Morifing Donzo secured a deserved win for Kotoko.
