The sad end of the search for the missing immigration officer, who went missing since July 3, 2025, has broken the hearts of loved ones and sympathisers.
Stephen King Nana Kofi Amoah, according to his close friend and sports analyst, Oscar Mawuli Nuwati, was confirmed to have been found with his neck slashed and body burnt, wrapped in a blanket and abandoned in a bush.
The late Ghana Immigration officer had left home to retrieve an amount of GHS200,000 from a friend, the accused (name witheld) who entered an agreement with him, promising to help people get jobs because he had strong connections in the ruling political party, the NDC.
After failing to get jobs for most people who had paid to the accused through Nana Kofi, there was the pressure to refund the monies, but apparently, the accused had other plans.
The deceased updated his friends of a new meeting place (the accused’s residence at Ashongman Estate) to collect the money from the accused after the latter changed their original meeting place, Aggie’s Spot in Ashongman, at 8:30 p.m., the same time the accused claimed Nana Kofi had set off for home.
At 8:59 a.m., Nana Kofi’s wife received an unsettling text message from his phone stating, “He has given me all the money. 500,000 ghc, He said I should keep 300,000ghc, he would come for it later. I just got home. I will call you .”
Her instincts kicked in, as the tone of the text did not sound like that of that her husband. Close friends and relatives were alarmed when Nana Kofi had not returned home the next day. Two police officers, who are believed to be friends of the accused, showed up at the deceased’s residence asking for his whereabouts.
The officers claimed they received an “unofficial” report of Nana Kofi absconding with the “GHS500,000” claimed in the fake text to have been given to him by the accused.
The discrepancies in the accused’s account raised serious questions, especially after the Taifa Police Station was informed about the whole ordeal, leading to his arrest on the evening of Sunday, July 6, 2025.
Nana Kofi, aka Otumfuo Nana, a father of two and a loving, caring husband filled with so many dreams and aspirations, as described by his friend, Oscar, has left an indelible mark of pain in the hearts of his loved ones with his untimely and gruesome demise.
