GFA has brought disrepute to themselves — Dr. Akoto Boafo

Date:

The Chief Executive Officer of Taking Over FC, Dr. Godfred Akoto Boafo, has challenged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to hold themselves accountable for the death of Nana Pooley.

Francis Yaw Frimpong, a loyal fan of Asante Kotoko, popularly referred to by many as Nana Pooley, was stabbed to death in a hooliganism act just outside the Nana Kronamansah Park.

This, Dr. Akoto Boafo believes, is as a result of the GFA’s always “taking the easy way out” instead of making the Ghana Premier League viable.

“Most of the time, you try and say something, and they say you are bringing the league into disrepute. What is more disreputable than this? How does the FA change this? If you look at the raft of announcements that they’ve made. The questions they’ve had to answer.

Your name is all over the world. The brand is all over the world. You are asking questions on the death of a fan at the stadium. What is more disreputable than this? They should issue that green letter to themselves and say they have brought the game into disrepute,” he said in an exclusive interview with Nana Darkwa Gyasi.

He therefore called for the legislation of protecting fans and clubs at large by the state, ensuring the GFA and the Ghana Police Service provide adequate security at match venues.
