Sammy Gyamfi to NDC Supporters: Avoid Attacking State Institutions

Date:

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on its supporters to refrain from attacking state institutions in the aftermath of the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Speaking on the matter, NDC Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi emphasized that the party has already won the election and urged supporters to avoid actions that could tarnish this victory.

“There is no need to attack government institutions or vandalize public property,” Gyamfi stated, cautioning against any form of violence or destruction. He highlighted concerns about corruption within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), suggesting that certain officials might exploit such chaos to destroy evidence of their misconduct.

“Many NPP supporters want to cover up their wrongdoing and escape justice. Don’t give them an excuse by attacking state offices,” Gyamfi warned. He also urged party members to remain calm and celebrate peacefully, adding, “Please, we beg you.”

Despite this plea, incidents involving disgruntled NDC supporters have been reported. On December 9, some individuals stormed state offices, including the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in Ayawaso East Municipality and the Metro Mass Transport Limited yard in Kaneshie. Supporters have also gathered at collation centers, demanding the prompt release of parliamentary results.

The Electoral Commission is expected to officially declare the election results later on Monday, December 9.
