Mfantsipim School has claimed the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) trophy for the third time, solidifying its legacy in the competition.
The Botwe Boys fought hard to reach the grand finale, overcoming tough opponents like Prempeh College and Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (Presec) in intense tie-breakers.
In the final, they faced two-time champions St. Augustine’s College (Augusco) and two-time finalists Keta Senior High Technical School (Ketasco). Despite Augusco’s strong start, Mfantsipim staged a stunning comeback in the final round, taking the lead. With a narrow finish, the Botwe Boys secured victory with 47 points, just ahead of Augusco’s 46 points, while Ketasco rounded out the competition with 32 points.
The contest began with a tie at 24 points between Mfantsipim and Augusco, while Ketasco lagged behind at 13 points. Augusco later extended their lead to 34 points in the second round, but Mfantsipim kept the pressure on with 31 points. The excitement peaked in the fourth round, with Augusco leading at 46 points and Mfantsipim close behind at 44 points.
As supporters cheered passionately, the final round unfolded dramatically. Mfantsipim’s impressive comeback and a correct answer on the last riddle from Ketasco gave them the edge needed for victory. This triumph exemplifies the Botwe Boys’ grit and teamwork, bringing the NSMQ trophy home once again.
