Joyce Blessing receives backlash for performing at NPP, NDC campaign

Date:

Renowned gospel musician Joyce Blessing is suffering a heavy backlash for reducing the gospel to money-making business with her recent appearance in political campaigns of various political parties.

Her participation in the political campaigns of the two major political parties in the country, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has sparked heavy debate over her real intentions as a gospel musician.

She performed at the NPP campaign launch in Dansoman, Accra, on Monday, August 26, 2024, after her appearance at the NDC campaign launch in Tamale a month ago.

Joyce Blessing delivered a powerful rendition of her latest song, “Victory,” which resonated with the audiences of the two parties.

This dual participation in both major political parties’ events sparked a wave of mixed reactions over her involvement in the political arena.

Though supporters of Joyce Blessing have praised her versatility and ability to inspire through her music, regardless of the platform, she was also facing backlash for her quest for money in using the gospel.

Critics have questioned the implications of her participation in both political events, raising concerns about the impact on her public image as a gospel artist.

The conversation has extended to a broader debate on the role of gospel musicians in politics and whether their performances aligned with their religious message and how it might even influence their relationship with fans.
