NCCE should factor the ‘Don’t Drink and Vote’ campaign -Drunkard Association

Date:

The President of the Beverage Consumers and Bar Owners of Ghana Association, Moses Onyah, known as Dry Bone, has called on the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) to collaborate with his outfit to initiate the “Don’t Drink and Vote” campaign.

According to him, the campaign will ensure there is not a wasted ballot paper or minimize the incidence of spoiled ballot papers.

Speaking exclusively to Max Morning Dew in Accra on Friday, Dry Bone declared that his association had over 16 million members and that the campaign would go a long way to propel members and all those who drink to become more responsible during the voting period.

“Imagine if people drink and vote with the numbers I have under my association; it means 16 million ballot papers will be wasted, and in turn, the country will suffer a loss from the rejected ballots,” he said.

Dry Bone then expressed the need for the NCCE not to only factor in the “Your Vote is Your Power” campaign; it should also factor in the “Don’t Drink and Vote” campaign to educate the public on how alcoholism could make the country lose huge sums of money when the ballot papers get rejected.

He revealed that members of his association had threatened to waste the ballot papers in the coming December 7 elections, hence his quest for the NCCE to prioritize his calls on them to initiate the campaign.
