Former head coach of The Gambia, Tom Saintfiet, seems to have grown tired of waiting for the Ghana head coach role as he accepts to become the coach of the senior national football male team of the Philippine.
The Belgian reportedly applied to become head coach of the Black Stars following the end of his tenure as coach of The Gambia.
Led by president John Gutierrez and recently-appointed director for national teams Freddy Gonzalez, the Philippine Football Federation introduced Tom Saintfiet on Monday morning in a news conference.
“I was in need of an ambitious task—a project,” said the Belgian when explaining why he accepted the appointment.
“My experience in national team football is that it’s not always the best players who win games. It’s personality, commitment. Playing for your country is the highest you can achieve.”
