DREAM CHILD FOUNDATION: Virtual Hub hits Ashiyie with maiden HoodTalk festival

Date:

On Saturday, September 2, the inaugural HoodTalk Music concert took place successfully in Ashiyie, in the Adenta Municipality.

People who attended the event at the Kingdom Gardens on Saturday night braved the weather to watch the many fantastic acts.

Along with a few more seasoned performers, young local rappers, singers, and other entertainers delivered their engaging sets.

Among the top names to perform at the concert were the 2020 Ghana Arts & Culture Awards (GACA) Ghanaian Artiste of the Year, Ssue; Gospel duo, The Tagoe Sisters; highlife veteran Pat Thomas and DopeNation.

Throughout the course of the evening, other performers on stage with SoulStreet included Lion Judah, Hommie Blackus, Omama, Ortiz RWDA, Pizzamio, Indigenous Vibes, African Dance Ensemble, Dzidudu Orchestra, Ssue, Foryna, Rozo, and Wisa Greid.

Merqury Quaye, the evening’s MC, expertly maintained the crowd’s enthusiasm in between the acts by getting them to sing along and compete in dance-offs.

The concert was the opening event of the revolutionary HoodTalk Music Festival, which aims to empower young people in Africa and promote child wellness.

By utilizing the power of music and the arts through community engagement, the festival aims to empower and encourage African children as well as bring voices for their betterment together.

To ensure that children’s health is given priority, the organizers, the DreamChild Foundation, hope to raise a preliminary total of $14 million for the construction of five pediatric clinics.

The first pediatric clinic will be located on the property where the Park festival took place. The next performance will take place at Tamale’s Aliu Mahama Sport Stadium on September 23.

The Western Region will host its roadshow on October 28 at Gyandu Park, Kumasi will host its roadshow on October 7 at Baba Yara Stadium, and Ho will host its roadshow on November 19 at Ho Sports Stadium.
