MAX GPL: King Faisal lambasts GFA for unfair verdict

Date:

Relegated BetPawa Premier League side King Faisal has accused the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of not being “truthful” with their verdict in the hearing of the King Faisal vs. Tamale City protest.

King Faisal had an appeal against Tamale City for fielding an unqualified player in their matchday 30 fixture in the 2022/23 BetPawa Premier League season overruled by both the FA Appeals Committees in June, with the club eventually getting relegated from the top flight after finishing 16th on the league table.

The club recently filed a motion against the Ghana Football Association at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) after their numerous attempts to appeal the case at the GFA proved futile, while the club’s bankroller, Alhaji Grunsah, bemoaned the ‘unfair’ verdict given by the GFA.

PRO for King Faisal, Awal Demonza, speaking with Max FM, confirmed the clubs’ decision to take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sports while branding the Ghana Football Association as “Untruthful” for their decision to rule the case against them.

“We provided enough evidence in our case against Tamale City. They fielded a player who had done a double registration, and in the hearing, we provided all the necessary and important documents to prove it. The GFA wasn’t truthful with their verdict, and that is the reason why we went to CAS”, King Faisal’s Spokesperson said.

The CAS has instructed the Ghana Football Association to respond to the complaint in the next 20 days before the issue is resolved.
