GPBL: Musah Lawson Defends Title, Wins Best Boxer On Fight Night 2

Date:

Fight Night 2 of the Ghana Boxing Professional League (GPBL) took place on Saturday, March 5, 2022, and it was a fantastic night. Week 2 lived up to its billing, with boxers who appeared on the show putting on a classic show that wowed patrons, guests, and fans alike.

With performances by Dance Hall artist AK Songstress, Bukom Banku, the female trumpeter and saxophonist, and the Jamestown Dance Academy, the night’s entertainment was also on point.

Last Saturday night, the Ghana Boxing Professional League (GPBL), which is organized by Imax Media Promotions with the support of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), drew a large crowd, and the fans were quite pleased with their experience at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

Joshua Banor of Palm Springs gym and Benjamin Tetteh of Akotoku club battled to a draw in the opening fight of the night after the latter received a cut on his face.

Seconds Out’s Reginald Lamptey and Attoh Quarshie’s Edward Borna wowed the crowd with incredible amateur boxing.

Seconds Out’s Stephen Abbey knocked out the Gym’s Kumakuwe Kwame, while Cann Neequaye, son of GBA President and Israel Neequaye, put on a show of fantastic amateur boxing.

Caleb Mensah and Joseph Mensah showed off their amateur abilities, while Black Panthers’ Abdul Suleman TKO’d Attoh Quarshie’s Dan Oduro.

Musah Lawson of Sonia had a rough time defending his national light Welterweight championship against Sonia product Charles Lesko Sossiya in the final title battle. With scores of 111 – 116, 110 – 117, and 108 – 118, the match went the distance. Lawson, a former Black Bomber, currently has a professional record of 7 wins and no losses in 7 matches.

Imax Media, Techno Mobile, Renault, Eddie’s Pizza, and Socabet are among the sponsors of the Ghana Professional Boxing League.

Mr. Abraham Neequaye, President of the GBA, praised the boxers for their outstanding performances and proclaimed that the days of ‘Astiabeshie,’ or manipulated fights, are finished.

“We are rebranding Ghana Boxing and we want to thank the sponsors, officials and fans who made the night super” he said.

Former GBA President Peter Zwennes, CEO of Ranault Ghana, and MP for Odododiodoo Nii Lante Vanderpuje were among the dignitaries in attendance.
