Ghana’s biggest music night is tomorrow, as musicians who have excelled in the year under review patiently await the verdict following the votes cast by the board, academy, and general public.
This year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) marks the 25th edition to celebrate hardworking players in the music industry while paying tribute to the people, culture, and music of Ghana.
Clearly, like previous events, there would be disappointments, surprises, thrills, and glamour at the Grand Arena at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The ultimate category for the night, Artiste of the Year, would be fiercely contested as Black Sherif, King Promise, Kuami Eugene, Nacee, Sarkodie, and Stonebwoy compete for the crown.
This prestigious accolade recognizes the artiste who has made the biggest impact in the industry over the past year, as adjudged by the board, the academy, and the general public.
Gospel Artiste of The Year would be a friendly competition for Joe Mettle, Joyce Blessing, Nacee, Mabel Okyere, Perez Muzik, Piesie Esther and Scott Evans.
There would be contention in search of the one who has carved a niche for himself as the man with punchy bars, thus, the Best Rap Performance category as Amerado: The Hardest, Eno Barony: Warning, FimFim: Boasiako, Lyrical Joe: 5th August (7), Medikal: We Made It, Sarkodie: Otan, and Strongman: Dear God locked horns to prove their mettle.
The Telecel Most Popular Song of the Year would be an unforgettable battle among Hossana – Bandy Banero, Yaya – Black Sherif, Scar – Gyakie ft. JBee, Victory – Joyce Blessing,
Liquor – KiDi ft. Stonebwoy, Terminator – King Promise, Monica – Kuami Eugene, Case Remix – Mr Drew ft. Mophty, Aseda’ – Nacee, Goodsin – Olivetheboy, Otan – Sarkodie, Into the Future – Stonebwoy and Kwaku Ananse – Amerado.
Patrons are expected to experience mind blowing and thrilling live performances from the 2-day festival from Stonebwoy, Kuami Eugene, King Promise, Mr. Drew, Nacee, Amerado, King Paluta, Efya, Amaree, Team Eternity, and “Surprise” acts.
In all, 30 categories will be up for grabs as artistes and music executives submitted thousands of musical works between January and February, which the board deliberated and produced nominees lists.
