The family of Yaw Sarpong has failed to acknowledge his estranged partner, Adwoa Penamang as the widow of the gospel musician who recently passed away.

They claim Yaw Sarpong had officially declared her as a divorced woman and wouldn’t acknowledge her as a wife.

Speaking in an exclusive phone interview with Showbiz Max on Max FM, Busumuru Sean Kingston, a freelance journalist, stated that Penamang made a grand entry during the signing of the book of condolences in Kumasi.

However, her presence sparked a reaction from the Sarpong family when she bitterly mourned the death of her “husband”.

The brother of the late gospel musician expelled her and made her understand that Yaw Sarpong divorced her 20 years ago, when the estranged wife protested, claiming her late husband never used the traditional and legal means to annul their marriage.

Penamang insisted that she was still married to her husband and had four children with him.

The family head (Abusuapanyin) was yet to talk about the matter for an amicable conclusion.

It could be recalled that Penamang went to Oyerapa to complain about her husband having an affair with his backing vocalist, Maame Tiwaa, which Yaw Sarpong denied when he was alive.

Yaw Sarpong reminded her of how she deserted her marriage 20 years ago, leading him to divorce her.
