Abu Trica has been re-arrested shortly after the High Court threw out his certiorari application challenging proceedings.
Known in private circles as Frederick Kumi, Abu Trica had challenged proceedings at the Gbese District Court, where he was re-arrested.
Abu Trica is facing romance fraud allegations, for which the United States of America has submitted an extradition request to the Ghanaian authorities.
Oliver Barker-Vormawor, lawyer for Abu Trica, remained adamant that despite the withdrawal of the prosecution, his client was still kept in detention, describing the situation as creating a disconnect between the letter of the law and its practical effect.
Dr Justice Srem-Sai, Deputy Attorney-General, in turn assured the court that if Abu Trica was still in custody despite the discontinuation of the case, steps would be taken to ensure his immediate discharge.
The Agona Swedru native was re-arrested by state authorities despite his lawyer’s stance against it.
