With roughly 18 games to go in a long 82 game NBA regular season, it’s safe to say we are at the tail end of this year’s campaign. Every game means more in terms of playoff seeding. Teams want to get in to top form right in time for the sprint for the championship. Here are 3 story lines to follow! .
1) The MVP RACE : This years race has been a fascinating one. There is legitimately 5 players who all have a solid case. Embiid has had an epic campaign and is currently the bookies favorite to win. Jokic and Giannis (the two previous winners) are in even better form then before. Breakout star Ja Morant has given us enough highlights to finish your internet bundle. DeMar DeRozan has led the bulls to a great season as well. It will certainly be interesting to see who has the upper hand in the next month or so!
2) THE BATTLE FOR THE PLAY IN :. NBA commissioner Adam Silver shook up playoff seedings a year ago with the novel play in idea. Instead of there being 8 automatic playoff berths per conference, the 6th to 10th seed need to duke it out to claim their place in the top 8. This has led to a frantic fight to be in the top 6. In the eastern conference the Nets see themselves surprisingly destined for a play in game. The disappointing Lakers are also in the same predicament out west. It’ll be an exciting battle all the way down the stretch.
3) THE SCORING TITLE:. Points are the name of the game in the NBA and the player with the highest points per game average is always an enviable position to be in. This year we have 4 superstars locked up within the 29.2 to the 29.7 range. Literally decimals separating Embiid,Durant, LeBron and Giannis! That’s a star studded list if you ever did see one. Anyone of these greats can go on a surge and secure the title , who would it be ?
