The presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Prof. Asamoah-Gyadu, has slammed the use of the term “Detty” in Jesus’ birth month.
In recent years the month of December has become a much-anticipated one for party lovers based in the country or diaspora.
The term “Detty”, which is equated to the proper English word “dirty”, is believed to have been derived since the inception of Mr Eazi’s Detty Rave concerts.
“Who decided to put the word ‘dirty’ on the month in which Jesus was born? Let’s celebrate Christmas in the spirit in which it was established,” Most Rev. Prof. Asamoah-Gyadu said during the induction of connexional executives of the Fellowship of Methodist Evangelists.
Most Rev. Prof. Asamoah-Gyadu opines the month is sacred and joyful in the Lord and ought to be observed as such.
