MAX Serie A Updates: Anguissa apologizes to teammates against Milan

Date:

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa has apologised to his teammates and Napoli supporters after being sent off in the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Milan on Wednesday evening.

The Cameroonian midfielder took to instagram to express his regret at being dismissed against the Rossoneri, but affirmed his belief that the rest of the Napoli squad will be able to get the job done in the second leg.

The former Fulham midfielder wrote: “Sorry guys for abandoning you. I have faith in you. We make an excellent team. We are Napoli. See you soon.”

Anguissa was given his marching orders by referee Istvan Kovacs  for a second bookable offence after what was deemed to be a high challenge on Milan’s Theo Hernandez on 74 minutes.

Only a few short minutes before, Anguissa had been booked for an apparent shove, again on Hernandez, although both bookings were widely considered to be on the harsh side.

Anguissa will be suspended for the return leg against Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona next week, as will Kim Min-jae, who has now accumulated two yellow cards in the knockout stage of the competition.
