The Member of Parliament-elect for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, John Dumelo has announced free transportation for University of Ghana students traveling home for the Christmas holidays.
This follows his victory in the December 7 parliamentary election, where he unseated Lydia Alhassan in a closely contested race.
Mr. Dumelo shared the information on his official Facebook page under the title “Travel Home with John Dumelo,” offering free buses to students at the University of Ghana.
The buses will depart on Saturday, December 21, 2024, from the Volta Hall Car Park to key destinations such as Kumasi, Ejisu, Konongo, Ho, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Winneba, and Elmina.
Mr. Dumelo’s gesture comes on the heels of his electoral victory in the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary election, where he defeated incumbent Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by a margin of 2,200 votes.
University of Ghana students were a critical part of Dumelo’s campaign efforts, with the actor-turned-politician maintaining a strong presence on campus through direct engagements and student-centered initiatives.
Dumelo’s announcement of free transport has been met with enthusiasm on social media, with many students applauding the move as timely and considerate ahead of the Christmas holidays.
